TERRY

Terry joined Your Accountant’s Office in December 2014. He brings 28 years of experience in accounting and finance, including corporate, public accounting, and government. He is our (SME) Subject Matter Expert on all tax matters.

He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and a Master’s Degree in Taxation (MT) from Golden Gate University. Terry has a strong passion for the tax field, whether it is income tax preparation, tax planning, sales tax, tax audit defense, or general business consulting. Terry became a registered preparer in 1995, and in 2003 he became an Enrolled Agent (EA) licensed to practice in all 50 states, including AZ. In 2005, Terry was awarded his Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license. He maintains his CPA licenses in AZ and CA. In 2021, he passed the prestigious US Tax Court Exam and earned USTC privileges.

Terry recently studied for and passed both parts of the CMA Certified Management Accountant Exam. He passed the Nonattorney U.S. Tax Court Bar Exam. This allows Terry and Taxanista LLC to defend clients at an even higher level. Terry has worked for several public accounting firms, including a stint at Big Four accounting firm Ernst and Young LLC, as well as smaller firms, where he specialized in High Net Worth clients. Terry worked as a Sales and Use Tax field auditor in San Diego, CA for several years, took an early retirement from the State of CA, and built a niche in sales tax audit defense in the CA desert region.

Wanting to be closer to family, Terry moved to the valley in 2013 from CA with his wife Barbara of 30 years. He enjoys travel, sports, MMA, genealogy, antique documents/stationery, old cars, and making new friends.
